Bizarre: Attack on the Templum of Jupiter in Poltava, Ukraine

"Apollodorosh" is a practitioner of Hellenismos, the worship of the Gods of ancient Hellas (Greece)

As you, or may not, have heard, some weeks ago some Orthodox Christians in Ukraine have attacked the Templum that is being built in Poltava, a town in Ukraine, to the Roman God Iuppiter. The Sacerdos of the local Cultores (Cultor refers to Cultorum Deorum Romanorum, a Worshipper of the Roman Gods) community was also physically attacked, and was taken to hospital by friends after he was able to scare of the intruders on his own property by shooting in the air with his gun.

Graffiti made by the intruders, the slogan translates to "Die Heathen".

The Sacerdos has since recovered and has told about what happened in an interview, of which I shall give a small excerpt here, and then I’ll give you the link to the article on a Religio Romana blog:

CDR: Was there any warning? I mean, had there been any unrest in the area or is there any explanation of why this happened when it did?
MOC: Several months ago, threat messages were posted in all topics of the Sarmatia forum. It was saying that all and any pagan altars, shrines and temples will be destroyed. Also, there was a quotation from the Bible with threats to all heathens and the slogan “Die Heathen” – exactly the words that were written on my fence during the attack. That’s why I think the authors of those threat messages on our forum and the people who attacked our templum are the same. Avatars that were used for those messages contained the logo of a fighting organization of Russian Orthodox Church – The “Orthodox Gonfalon Bearers”. On the other hand this organization has been active only in Russia and there is no proof that the attackers really belonged to that organization.
